Late Christmas goodies

Since I couldn't do my yearly Christmas Disney shopping before Christmas I postponed it to January and this week my order finally arrived! Lots of new stuff to review, yay!
My order included mostly Frozen dolls - singing, classic, animator, everythign I could get my hands on. I got the newest Elsa  and Anna dollset with their final looks, the singing Elsa and Anna dolls, a classic Elsa and an animator Anna. There is also a beautiful Beauty and the Beast mug, a special gift for mother, chosen by herself. Shealready carried it off by the time I took the photos sh I'll add a picture later. (It is this Beauty and the Beast mug)

Here a few not so good pictures of my new treasures:
Those two decided to be upside down, so I let them.:)

Singing Anna is so adorable! And she is perfect for the project I purchased her for. I hope I can rebody her without damaging her.
Elsa and Elsa, with different faces. I plan to do a review where all three Elsa faces will be compared. Same for Anna.

And last but not least, Animator Anna, since my Animator Elsa was lonely without her little sister so I got her one. :)
They all look like there are a dozen Ursulas around and they are taking the voices of all Annas and Elsas.

Disney Store 2017 Classic Belle doll review

"Jenseits der Nacht/ Jenseits der Angst, /Holt kein Schatten uns mehr ein."

Literally: Beyond the night, beyond fear, no shadow can reach us
From the musical Rebecca by Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze

It's the counterpart song to the one I quoted in the Pocahontas doll review. Belle gets her happy ending and Pocahontas gets a bittersweet ending so thes get matching quotes. Also they are good friends in my dollworld.

Belle is one of my Chrismas dolls as well I wanted to add her to my collection for years. There was a Belle doll here who came together with Hannah Rapunzel, Diana Jasmine and Susanne Ariel. (And some of the boys as well but they are not interested in blogging, they asked me not to include them on the meeting site. I may have to make an exception for Hans. Now enough, back to Belle.) But... things happened. I do not have that Belle anymore. So I put a Belle doll in my basket when I bought my Christmas stuff. But I have an old photo of the older Belle so I put the two pictures of the two Belles together to compare them.
It looks like one photo (it was mistaken to be one picture) but it is two photos combined into one picture. The one on the left is the 2015 version - no glowes, no Chip, no real ribbon on the dress but one made of glitter - the one on the right is 2017 version , the one I own and I'm about to share my thoughts about. The hair is packed differently, too, the one on the left has two big curled locks, the one on the right has two wavy sections.
As she was a long awaited doll I already had a name for her. She is called Daphne after the authoress of the book Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier. The film adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock  is quite well-known and I choose a quote from the musical version of the Rebecca story.
So let's get to the doll itself.
She has a box in the same simple style as all the 2017 classic dolls have. A Disney sign in the upper left corner, the characters name and the movies title at the bottom.
The fancy one is the movietitle and the plain one is the characters name - it is good to know in cases the name is also the title. (Mulan Pocahontas, I'm looking at you two)
One side shows Lumiére, the other Belle with Mrs. Potts and Chip with books, probably in the library.
I would't have chosen ballgown and reading combination but that's my problem. :) Hasbro uses the same combination, they have a very cute ballgown Belle artwork for their Little Kingdom Belle, which shows her with her nose in a book.
The back shows Belle in her ballgown, again with Mrs. Potts and Chip but this time it looks like they are in the garden of the Beasts home since they have the castle as background. But now it's time to free this mademoiselle who is said to be peculiar.
There is the usual amount of ties, some for the hair, hands, waist, feet and more. The ones in her head were not tight and quite easy to cut.
During deboxing I accidentally pulled one of her gloves partly off. What scared me was that there was something hard in the thumb part of it. I thought Belles thumb broke off. So I pulled it completely off. Her hand was all fine, what I felt was the seam - because it is so small  and the two seams are so close to each other. Putting it back was not that bad but I don't think I'll repeat it often. It can be helpful while dressing them into a long, tight-sleeved top.
Belle fresh out of the box
She has two sections of hair but I arranged her hair for this picture so it looks like she has only one. The shoulder part of the dress is a bit darker than the bodice, the glowes are the same color. The skirt is a bit more yellow and less golden and is covered in glitter and so are Belles legs. The ribbon on the dress is maybe a bit lighter than the bodice.
It goes all around the dress but at the back there are only two sections, and that is because there is the velcro, where the dress closes. There is also an ugly hole where the skirt and the bodice meet, that's where her waisttie was. It'll take some time till it is flat. I wanted to make that a bit faster and pulled her skirt so it lays nice so she can sit down and sit on that part so it straightens out. (Pocahontas did not have this problem, thanks to the fabric they used for her outfit) Then I found out that the sections of the skirt are actually gathered with the help of elastics. So it goes right back where it was as soon as I wasn't pulling the dress. I did not know that but thpught it's a clever idea to make the dress.
This year the ballgowns are shorter than usually, they are all showing their feet and Belle is no exception.
Belle had a good amount of tissue paper under her skirt.
This paperboa now serves as a stylish accessoire for holiday Elsa.
Belles shoes are visible and they kind of point upwards which I think is quite odd. She has flat feet and wears yeallow flats. An odd choice for Belle in my opinion but apperently Disney gave this year flat feet to all the girls I got. Flat feet-klick knee combination just doesn't work. She has of course articulation at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, the articulation the usual classic princess dolls from the Disney Store have. My Belle has a bit of a problem with her hip and she sits like her neighbour, Dolly, the Frozen Fever Anna doll, who has hard plastic legs and uhm doesn't sit really elegant. She has a bad influence on Belle. :)
Belles dress is very pretty and I think it is quite movie accurate, only the skirt could be a little longer. In the movie it touched the floor, here is a reminder:

No shoes visible, even if she sits down.
She has her hair styled in a half updo, similar to the movie.
The middle section of her hair is used for the actual bun, using some hairsections from her hairline on both on the left and the right side. That's why she comes with her hair in two big sections.
The upper part of her hair and the updo is quite soft but the ends of the two big locks I mentioned are hard because on the amount of hairproduct used on them.
Like during the last few years, she comes with her widows peak. She has a lovely face, subtle makup, green eyes (I would call it green but it is mostly called hazel) and a slight blush on her cheek.
She looks a lot like her mini counterpart that I got a year earlier. Mini Belle looks high up, though, so she doesn't look the same in the picture.
If you are curious of the Belle dolls from the earlier years, here is a link to a review of the 2016 Belle doll by Beastsbelle with comparing her to all the Belle dolls starting from 2010. She looks pretty similar to this years Belle.
http://nevergrowupdollguide.blogspot.hu/2016/07/2016-disney-store-belle-doll.html
The big Belle comparsion and Belle lineup can be found at the end of the post.
Chip came with Belle thes year as well. As far as I can judge, he is exactly the same as last year.
I think I got a fairly nicely painted one. He is up next to Mushu, just behind the girls.
Belle is also up on the shelf, next to her new friends.
Merida and Aurora are the ones left, plus a 2015 Jasmine. Who shall be next? I've one Little Kingdom girl left as well, waiting to be reviewed. ;)

31 day Disney Challenge - Day 31

So the final day... favourite ending:
Beauty and the Beast, because I'm a hopeless romantic and I love happy endings but I liked the unusal bittersweet ending of Pocahontas as well. I also liked that instead of a storybook they used this handdrawn picture, like at the beginning. I liked how the ending of The Lion King suggested that the story goes on and on and never ends.Wreck-it Ralph is different again, the whole credits is a story by itself and very enjoyable in my opinion :)

31 day Disney Challenge - Day 25 and Day 26

Day 25: funniest moment:
I choose a bunch of the best to make this pic :) Genie and his neck, Jafar and Iago plotting to marry Jasmine, Hercules and Megara, Hades and his henchmen Pain and Panic, the three good fairies from Sleeping Beauty, hit a guy with glasses, Mulan trying to behave like a man. :) There are so many more I didn't put in here though.

Day 26: saddest moment

As a child, I thought, as many others did, that Mufasas death and Simba trying to wake him up is the saddest. I found now that I think these two moments the most sad.
Beast letting Belle go - in the musical version it is even more touching, since he sings a reprise of  the song 'If I can't love her'
Elsa mourning for her sister -  think that the last of your loved ones is gone and you believe it's your fault - impossible to describe.

31 day Disney Challenge - Day 17

Day 17: favourite couple:
Belle and her Prince, Hercules and Megara, Rapunzel and Eugene and last but not least, Simba and Nala!

These fourcouples are so differen that I can't compare them and they show different aspects of love, I think. :) I like that none of them likes immediately the other but slowely grows to like her/ him. Okay, maybe Hercules is an exception but still... you get the point. :)

31 day Disney Challenge - Day 9, Day 10, Day 11 and Day 12

Day 9: favourite sidekick:
Abu, you can see a few reasons in the pictures why he is a favourite :)
Although he can't talk, he can express so much!

The next two are about quotes, I just love quotes - I often put one I think is suitable at the beginning of my posts :)
Day 10: favourite serious quote:
“The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.”

Yes that picture does not go with the quote, but he looks so vise :)
I know this is an overused one but it is something I'm still trying to learn :)

Day 11: favourite funny quote:
Everything Hades, the one I put on the picture is my very favourite.
Hades: I can't believe this guy! I throw everything I've got at him, and it doesn't even...
[Hades notices Pain is wearing Air-Hercs]
Hades: What... are... those?
Pain: Um, I don't know. I-I thought they looked kinda dashing...
Hades: [slowly burns up] I've got 24 hours to get rid of this... bozo, or the entire scheme I've been setting up for 18 years goes up in smoke, and YOU ARE WEARING HIS MERCHANDISE?
[Hades hears a noise, and sees Panic slurping some "Herculade"]
Panic: [chuckles nervously] Thirsty?
[Hades screams, and blows up a volcano]
In the hun version, Panic offers a "cooling drink" to Hades so it's extra funny, Hades beeing so firey. :)  And the two are called Pech and Pánik in hungarian - Panicis Panic but  Pech actually means ill-luck. It suits him. :)
Here are a few more  I like a lot :)

Day 12: favourite kiss:
Nothing to say, really. It's magical. :)

Again I used pictures from https://disneyscreencaps.com/

The one with the many Hades quotes is not made by me.

Edit: disneyscreencaps is now: https://animationscreencaps.com/

31 day Disney Challenge - Day 3 and 4

Day 3: Favourite character:  I almost choose Belle for this so Mulan could be the princess but then I decided to go with this incredible guy here. Genie is not to top :)
He has a thousand faces, he is funny and he is a true friend. :)

Day 4: Favourite Princesses:
Belle, because I love books and feel like I'm odd, just like her.
Mulan is a favourite, too! She is brave and different from the other princesses. I think every princess has qualities that girls can take as an example and follow. These two are my personal favourites beside Anna, Elsa and Rapunzel and.... I could go on.

31 day Disney Challenge - Day 1

Disney Challenge
I started a Disney Challenge on flickr because it sounded fun and I thought I could post it here as well.
Here are the tasks:
Day 1 - Favourite movie:
Yes, yes, this was a though one, really. I love so many! As a small child, Lion king was number one, it was the first movie I saw in cinema and I had lots of plastic lion figurines and still have most of them. Later Hercules and Beauty and the Beast became favourites as well. Hercules is so funny, Beauty and the Beast is mainly a favourite because of Belle and the story - I often felt like I'm odd. Wreck-it Ralph has a nice story and we had so much fun watching it with my siter and brother, I loved the jokes :)
I love so many others as well, like Mulan and Aladdin and Frozen and... but I had to stop somewhere and that's the best I could come up with. :)

Beauty and the Beast - the musical

Note: I write the hungarian names as we write them here in hungary: surname first, then comes the given name

Disneys new, live action Beauty and the Beast movie premiered today in my country (and it is said that even Luke Evans, the actor who played Gaston, showed up) Here is a photo, linked from an online article about the movie :) I haven't seen the movie yet.

I thought this is a great opportunity to share something about the musical version and especially about the one I've seen, the hungerian version.
What I love about the musical are the added details and songs. As a child I always wondered, why did the enchantress curse the servants, they didn't chase her away. And in the musical there is an answer: they didn't do anything directly to get rid of the lady but as Lumiére says, they played a great part in the princes life and it was their fault that he became so spoilt and selfish.
I thought I could share some thoughts and photos about the hungarian musical version of Beauty and the Beast.
Since the 2005 premiere there were quite a few changes in the cast so I'll try and show as many of them as I can. The show is still running, though it is on a tour at the moment. It is a non-replica version so it doesn't look like the Broadway production and I figured this could be interesting for my readers. The costumes are different for example. Here is the youngest actress who plays Belle (Kisfaludy Zsófia)and got the role not so long ago, showing off the blue village outfit.

Quite different but I still like it. When she flees from the castle, a sleeve is accidentally torn off by the beast. And when the Beast saved her but collapses she uses a part of her petticoat to bandage his wound quickly, untill they get back to the castle.
Her pink dress is quite different from the animated version, too, but I couldn't find a decent picture. I apologize for the quality. It has a short sleeve made of a fragile, a bit lace-like fabric. The skirt has lots of little roses and other flowerlike patterns on it. She wears this for the library scene, there is no green dress in this version. The library itself is a huge swing.

And of course the golden-yellow ballgown:

The dress she wears at the end is a bit different but the costumes the different Belles have aren't always exact copies of each other, either.
Mrs Potts (Polyák Lilla) and Lumiére (Bálint Ádám ) giving the Beast advice. (I'm sorry, I can't identify the actor playing the Beast - there are backdraws with a mask like that) I really like these costumes:

Maurice and his invention, it reminds me a bit of a bicycle and it works similar but it is supposed to be more like a motorbike:
I had to replace the picture because the theatre renewed its homepage and removed the Beauty and the Beast gallery. The picture comes from a youtube video but I did not make it, I found it via Google.
Gaston and Lefou - had to replace this picture as well because the theatre renewed its homepage and removed the Beauty and the Beast gallery:

Part of the castle with Beast (Homonnay Zsolt):

Be our Guest (Lumiére is Bereczky Zoltán):

Belle (Szinetár Dóra) meets the Wardrobe, aka Madame de le Grand Bouche (Siménfalvy Ágota):
Some other enchanted objects with Chip and Mrs. Potts (Polyák Lilla), singing Human again.:
And if you look closely you can spot Belle and Beast in the upper left corner. :)
Cogsworth (Földes Tamás), Beast (Homonnay Zsolt) and Lumiére (Bálint Ádám):

The End: Belle (Jenes Kitti) and the Prince (Homonnay Zsolt) celebrate their engagement, with Mrs Potts (Nádasi Veronika) sitting in the forground.

This is the other yellow gown, the bottom of the skirt and the shoulder part is a bit different, and the skirt is more folwing, not as stiff as the orther.
My favourite Belle (Vágó Bernadett) and Beast uhm I wanted to say Prince (Szabó P. Szilveszter) :)

I got out the booklet and the pamphlet I received when I watched the performance. The bigger one is from around the premiere the other one is only a few years old. Elisabeth Belle was curious to learn more about Belle.
There are lots of beautiful photos there!
Elisabeth posing with the booklet and the pamphlet
The booklet introduces the whole cast and creative team with photo and there are a few sentences about them. Photos and the first part of the text of the song Beauty and the Beast is also there. The pamphlet only had the names, a little about the performance and photos.
To round it all up, her is a short video made by the theatre:
The music is live from a performance I hope you enjoyed it.
