Disney Store Classic Hans doll review and a little story

"True is false and false is true
Who am I and who are you"

Rudolf -Affaire Mayerling by Frank Wildhorn,
song: It is the finale on the concept album but on stage it was at the beginning

The next treasure from the box is Hans. He is definitely a character that doesn't run around in every Disney movie. You can't tell by his looks that he is up to no good. His design could easily pass for a good guy and I think this is a good thing, I mean, even Vanessa from the Little Mermaid who was supposed to be beautiful, wouldn't pass as a good princess or something like that. Uh I got distracted, back to Hans, I like how he looks so I ordered him when I saw that he was available. I haven't seen him there for many months. He was the only one of my dolls that was wrapped in tissue paper on the outside but he generously gave some to Elenas box. There are some leftovers of it at the top of both boxes.
His box is not like the standard classic box, it is Frozen-themed and has snowflakes on it, like all the frozen dolls from this year.
Obviously, Elsa froze him into his box. You will see, the box of the mini wardrobe set has a similar design, quite different from th first Frozen Mini doll set and earlier classic dolls.
Both the top...
... and the side of the box is decorated. All Snowflakes.
But at least they left a hole so he could breath :} I still have Elsas box somewhere and I know the older version of the box had a Hans picture at the front This one has none at the front.
The bottom of the boxes front has a big From the movie Frozen sign, in both english and french. Under that at the very bottom, there is a warning and his name. No, the Warning doesn't go against Hans, it just says there are small parts and it's not for children under 3 years.
The backside says Classic doll collection. Mulan didn't have this and she is part of the classic doll collection, too. And they are of the same series since Hans doesn't have a photo of the doll but a drawing of him, just like Mulan. (Edit: At least I think so.)
It is another... interesting piece of artwork. I prefer the doll. And he is kind of covered with snowflakes.
Enough talking about the box, let's free him!
You are not serious, are you?
Dolly is not at all enthusiastic to help. She thinks it was a horrible idea to order him in the first place. But I already have a mini Hans and none of them objected when he joined the club.
Dear me!
Note by Dolly:
You might notice that a mini villain, who is still in the box is not that scary. Besides, he was there before us. We should have known that who starts to add villains to the collection, can't stop and will add more and more of them. First a mini villain, still in the box. Fine, he can't do much harm in there, we all thought. Last december, another mini villain, Gaston, joined the collection. He was free, but still a mini one. We started to suspect that nothing good is coming. And we were right, to crown all, now a classic Hans joined. Don't you think he's a bit scary for the little ones? Just saying.
Dolly is against deboxing

Mirror, mirror in the box..
While deboxing, I could take an interesting picture with his face reflected in the clear plastic. I liked that. Besides, his nose can be studied.
Finally free! Mostly... and Dolly is still protesting
the way to Elsas castle
His background in the box is a snowy hillside. So this doll is a 'second generation', I want to say the second version of the classic doll. Maybe even the third, I'm not sure. (Edit: I found some information under this picture: https://www.flickr.com/photos/floundersfolly/38191817081/in/dateposted/ it's not mine but the owner gives a useful quick description of the different versions of Hans, including the 2017 version wearing the balloutfit) The biggest difference compared to the first version is, that they didn't use so many different fabrics for his outfit. Mini Hans has one that used all the different fabrics the old classic doll had but does not have some details. Here is a picture to compare:
Look closely at the coats and the vaistcoats
This version uses the same fabric for everything, just different colors. At least it feels like they are all the same or very similar. He could take off his coat if I would cut the two plastic ties in the front but rest of the outfit is one piece. The vaistcoat has only a front part and the shirt is sewn to the pants and it has no sleewes, while the older one had those sleeves. (You can check it here, it's a photo from  this post from Belles Bulletins) Right. Poor boy, he really needs a change of clothes. Don't misunderstand, they are quite movie accurate but I would like to see him wearing something different.
Eyeing Dolly, eh?
When I'll have the time I'll turn him into a Bond Street Beau, in regency style, biscuitcolored pantallons, a blue coat made of Bath cloth and a snowwhite neckcloth. (Those are fashions preferred by  Beau Brummel, the uncrowned king of mens fashion during the first part of the era called Regency. He set the rule that a crawat must be white, other colors were considered vulgar and only after he had to flee because of his debts and was no longer a leader of society, did colored neckties come into fashion. At least that's what I read about him. :))
As far as I can tell he has the same face as the earlier version but I'm not sure about that since I don't own the first edition of him.
He has shiny lightbrown hair with moulded details, green eyes glancing at Dolly, pardon, to his left, a pointy nose, some darker and some lighter freckles and sideburns. He had some problems standing on his own but two paper handkerchieves pushed under the front part of his boots solved the problem completely.
He wears a thin grey coat, a blue shirt with a pinkish necktie, a darkblue west, even darker blue pants and has some black and golden details on his clothes. Simple black boots that are easy to take off and put back complete his look.
Boots... winter boots?
Looking at his back makes it clear that he was not put in his box very carefully, there are folds everywhere.
He needs an iron
His coat is quite thin but the edges are properly finished.
Yes, Dolly is pretty, isn't she? But it's not polite to stare at her like that.
I really need to figure out this guy and charm him out of his shell. And convince the others that the movie is one thing, dolls are quite another. He looks like a nice one and, more important, he seems to like Dolly a lot. We'll see what happens. :) And I have a splendid idea! I could pose those two as if they were dancing, just like in the movie.

Dolly: This is everything but splendid!
So here you go some posing pictures and the story, told by Dolly:
With him!?
'P-p-p-posing? With him? But... but...' I protested.
'You'll see, it'll be fun!' was all she got as an answer. 'Now, where do  have that screenshot? Oh yes, this one.'
And so we were carried in front of the computer and told to do a dancing pose.
Fine. I can't dance. And on the picture, Anna is looking adoringly at this Hans. I looked up at him and to my surprise, he seemed to be just as nervous as I was, his gaze was fixed at some distant point on the wall. Well, we were strangers after all and all the other dolls had a perfect view on us.
And if Meritre doesn't try matchmaking, you can call me Beast. Her head is full of romantic ideas (She is already messing with the Minis) and she thought Hans is just right for me. No. I have something against arranged marriages, besides, I'm too young. And I can't dance. I guess he is trying to make me do the steps but...
'I can't...' was all I could say.
'Well, that doesn't mean you can't learn - if you would like to. I can help you with that.'
I just nodded. I couldn't do anything, anyway. And we started, he showed me the steps and very patiently taught me how to do it.
Also, he asked Meritre to set up something so the others don't make me nervous while learning the steps. In the end he told me, that he loved this dance, only he could never find a partner. My face started to take the color of my hair.
'Yyes... sure.'
Come on, Dolly, you can't be like this, I told myself. And I started to enjoy it. He is a great dancer and a great teacher.
'I think you already know that I'm Dorothea but the others call me Dolly most of the time. What is your name?'
'You can call me Vester.'
I smiled. He doesn't seem bad, but who knows, I have to be careful.
'Pleased to meat you.'
Turn, turn, turn, that's the dance.
Turn around
He seemed to feel a little better, too.

Later, after the dancing course was over, I thought a lot about his name. Vester... I never heard this name. And then I realised... It's Sylvester. And I actually enjoyed dancing the Waltz with him. What a day!

Sorry it took me so long to do a new post and it's still not Rosemarys story... Next time, hopefully!
