Disney Store 2018 Classic Moana doll review

"Here right now, here right now, this is what we're living for"

from the musicak Ghost by Bruce Joel Rubin and Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, song is also called Here right now

It's been a while. Today I'll do a review of the 2018 Moana classic doll I got for Christmas. Here is the first glimpse I had at her:
She still comes with her oar like her earlier dolls but the doll's box can't be turned into a boat anymore.
Her box has her name with plain letters and with fancy letter, like it was in the movie - actually it's the movie title, which happens to be her name. This is like the princess doll boxes from 2017 but I bought her in 2018. The other dolls I purchased together with her have different boxes.
The box has some 3D pictures of the movie characters. There are also a lot of warnings but I cut those out of the picture since they were quite blurry.
The left side
And the right side
I think those were all promo pictures for the movie. As you can see the box is quite detailed and Moana has a nice ocean background.
Deboxing her wasn't that hard. She has a very accurate face in my opinion.
From the left side she looks almost angry to me.
From the right she looks happy and ready for adventure.
She has a lot of hair, it's really wavy, almost curly. The texture is nice and soft, but I think it's best to leave it alone.
I guess that's what could be called a lions mane. She has really beautiful hair. It's dark, almost black, but if you look carefully it's very dark brown, not black.
As you can see her body is different from the usual princess body, she is sturdier. I'm really happy that they decided to make this new body for her. And not even her hands are borrowed from the prince dolls. each one of her fingers stands by itself while the prince dolls have all their fingers moulded together except for the thumb. She has big flat feet and can stand quite stable without any support. She's been on my shelf for a few months and she hasn't fallen down yet. This new sturdier built also means she can't really put on Barbie clothes - although I haven't tried curvy clothes since I don't own any. I'm comparing her to Pocahontas so you can see the differences.
I don't really know why, but I really like this hand touching picture. As if they recognise that they found a new friend in each other.
Moanas feet are huge. Or Pocahontas' are tiny.
She has much thicker limbs. Also from this angle she looks a bit like the Hasbro Moana doll.
Her clothes are nice and detailed and movie accurate.
Her skirt opens at her right hip with velcro but becareful, the two sides and the layers of her skirt are - not sewn together, but attached to each other at one point with thread. The pattern on her skirt goes all around. As far as I know her top used to be made of more layers, too but now it's just printed, although it still looks nice. It closes with velcro at the back and two elastic straps help it stay on her.
Her necklace has a lot of details and is held in place witl elastics. I didn't cut them, since I sort of regretted doing it for Aurora, Auroras necklace is now dancing around just as it wants.
Her oar is also very nice and detailed, there are lot's of molded details to make it look like real wood.
It isn't completely straight, which makes it even more realistic. The patterns are just on one side though.
It also has a handle so she can hold it better but unfortunately it doesn't stay there.
It's a nice accessory though and it's great for playing.
A last full body picture of beautiful Moana. She's a really nice and unique Disney doll, I'm very happy I decided to add her to my collection. Maybe not the best for kids because of her hair and because she can't be redressed in Barbie clothes but it's a great doll nevertheless.
Although I don't have any other Moana dolls in my collection she got a name of course, she is Laconia after a mute wood elf from Smurfs.
Laconia up on the shelf
I have more dolls to review and of course the stories to continue but I'm not sure I'll have the time as this is my last semester at university and I'll be quite busy for a while. I'll try and post something little in the meantime, though.

Edited: Teasers and new trailer released - Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

"When Can I See You Again"

from Wreck-it Ralph ;)

Edit: I added the new trailer and a link to some more pictures and some thoughts towards the end of this post! Have fun!
Today I discovered that some pictures of the new Wreck-It Ralph sequel were released, among them a picture showing some of the Disney Princesses that will appear in the movie. I've been waiting for this since last year, when  a scene was shown at D23 where the girls appear. Here is an article from last year with more information:
https://eu.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2017/07/15/wreck-ralph-sequel-disney-princesses/481531001/
I found two versions of that picture:

I linked this first one from Facebook, shared byWalt Disney Animation Studios The second one is linked from the USA Today site. I got the information from the comments section belonging to the first picture that the picture is cropped and where the full picture can be found.
I'm very excited for this movie I loved the first one and I as far as I know, Vanellope von Schweetz is going to give the ladies a makeover. I hope this means casual dresses for all of them and I also hope Disney realeases the outfits as dress packs. My dolls would love to exchange their ballgowns from time to time for more comfortable clothes.
According to the Wikipedia article, all members of the Disney Princess lineup will be included, so no worries if you don't see your favourite girl in the picture. (To make it clear: I consider Disney Princesses and princesses two different things. Disney Princesses is the lineup, with Pocahontas and Mulan beeing part of it, and princesses are - well, princesses. Anna is a princess but not a Disney Princess. Mulan is a Disney Princess but not a princess. That's how I see it.) I think they actually use the cast of Ms Amy Mebbersons Pocket Princesses - her lovely and funny weekly pictures feature Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Elsa, Anna and Moana. It looks like these ladies will appear in the new Wreck-it Ralph movie, too. I understand that many people are disappointed that characters they love didn't make it but I greatly dislike the amount of negativity and rudeness it brings with it. Maybe the other characters (like Kida or Nala) will get a chance later where they won't have to compete with the princesses for attention. That is pretty hard in my opinion.
Here are some more pictures, also form Facebook, shared together with the first picture:

Oh and here is the link to the trailer, too, I'm pulling this one from youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMgLxOZJWvs
Neither the pictures nor the video are owned by me, I'm merely an excited fan who wanted to share it.
Here is the new trailer that came out today (4th June 2018):

This flickr user made some great screenshots, go and look at them! They are right at the top now, but will likely get lover and lover, as koji kiote  adds more new pictures to the gallery. Another flickr user with amazing pictures, drj1828, made an album for Wreck it Ralph 2 which can be found here and the pictures can be easily found there even as his gallery grows. Those pictures are of course not mine.
If you look at these pictures, you'll see that all the girls missing from the first picture are there: Mulan, Merida and Ariel.
No Elena, but she has her own Wiki (as far as I know) and she is from a TV show, so I think it makes sense she is not in the same room as the other girls. But I'm sure she is out there somewhere in the internet, we just don't ger to see her in this movie. :)
The US Release Date is said to be November 21, 2018.
I'm going to watch this one with the original dub, since most of the puns and jokes get lost while translating or doesn't work so well in another language - at least that's what happened to the first Wreck-It Ralph movie.
Who else is excited? :)

Toyfair 2017 thoughts

Before you get excited, no I wasn't there I just found som videos on youtube about the dolls and toys that interested me most:

Hasbros Disney Princesses, Frozen and Elena of Avalor dolls, figurines and playsets

I just wanted to share a few thoughts, this is just my humble opinion, I'm not connected to Disney or Hasbro. I'll call the posable little dolls figures. They are adding Pocahontas to the  Little Kingdom line! I think she turned out really nice and the pose they found for her is in my opinion fitting, very "Pocahontaslike" You can take a good look at her at 0:56
There is a new Mulaan, too, and that makes me happy since Mulan is one of my favourite princesses.
There is something in the background during the frist minute that looks very much like the Beast, maybe a dancing set? He turns into  the prince, too but we don't get to see the prince.
There are new Elsa and Anna dolls and figures, too. Elsa as a piano. Interesting idea.
There are Moana dolls and figurines, too. The one with young Moana and toddler Moana is the cutest in my opinion. :)
While I'm not really into playsets, I remember I always wanted a Barbie house as a child and there is a house for both the Little Kingdom figurines and the Barbie-sized dolls. I think it wouldn't have bothered me  that the house was made for Elena and her family I would have let all the girls live there.
Elena has a pretty new dress and there is a Naomi doll, too! I'll have to take a closer look at her once she turns up in stores here.

And here is the video about the new Dascendants dolls (for Descendants 2)
I wish I could get just the outfits, as I already have the dolls I want. Carlos seems to have rooted hair this time instead of  moulded hair. I like Mals old, shorter hairstyle better but the two-pack Mals hair actually looks nice.

If you are intersted in other toys that were shoved there take a look at Idle Hands blog and look for the 2017 februar posts.
